Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Dec 15, 2009 9:02 pm He guys. Looking for solid or engineered timber for me home which will be built next year. Missed on on salvage.com.au's timber sale but would like something lightbrown or dark brown. NOt a fan of reds. I've visited the usual stores like decorug/carpetcall/solomons but still haven't been wowed yet. Any recommendations? Budget around $100-$110 laid. Re: Brisbane Timber Foors 2Jan 02, 2010 1:31 pm What style of timber flooring are you after ? Like, do you want it heavily featured ? (knots and gum veins / rustic style) or smooth and clean looking ? Re: Brisbane Timber Foors 3Jan 03, 2010 7:35 pm anthony_carter What style of timber flooring are you after ? I like character in the floor but not too much so the standard grades are perfect Re: Brisbane Timber Foors 4Jan 04, 2010 9:19 am There is a decision you must make first. Solid v Floating. This is because your solids are from a different market/supplier than your floaters. Carpet Call/Court/Choice, Harvey Norman, Solomons, Andersons etc are floating floor sippliers, whereas you'll need to contact someone like BORAL and get a reccomendation for a reputable supplier for solid. A phone number for Boral is 03 9790 1790. Gunns of Tasmania will also have preferred contractors in QLD if you call them up to get a good solid supplier. Otherwise just get the floating flooring from a carpet retailer such as I said above. Re: Brisbane Timber Foors 5Jan 04, 2010 10:27 am Let me know if you can get anywhere near $100/m. I'm allowing for $140. Good luck. Re: Brisbane Timber Foors 6Jan 04, 2010 10:54 am I'm going for solid timber. Also having to decide about glue direct to concrete vs ply base. Have gotten a few quotes from suppliers in brisbane and northern suburbs seems to be the cheapest at $170/sqm installed over ply for spotted gum Re: Brisbane Timber Foors 7Jan 04, 2010 11:47 am Yeah. It's quite a bit more. Same specie in a veneer fully installed would be around $110 - $115 a m2. 4mil veneer. 25yr warranty. Interestingly, solids normally come with no warranty! So make sure you choose a well respected supplier. Re: Brisbane Timber Foors 8Jan 05, 2010 8:23 am I only know of boral and they would be the only ones I trust. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15819 Hello Josh, This is Irving from PRIMA, we are a manufacturer of the staircase, railings, kitchen cabinets, windows, doors from China.
