Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: Question for Ash re the Rhino 3Nov 13, 2009 5:33 pm Oh you are asking about the 'new' fibre called Triexta. I will have to defer judgement about this stuff. Too early to get much feedback about it in the real world. It is very much like a polyester fibre, and I would expect it to perform similarly to polyesters. Its just that the yarn manufacturer has made it different enough to be granted the right to call it by another name. Here's some info... http://www.floorbiz.com/BizNews/NPViewA ... cleid=4314 Yes it should have very good stain resistance. But it will probably not have great appearance retention. Polyesters are renowned for have issues to do withy texture change, similar to polypropylenes. But if anyone is considering SDN or polyprop carpets, this 'Rhino' carpet made with 'triexta' yarn may be worth looking at. Ash. Re: Question for Ash re the Rhino 4Nov 13, 2009 6:23 pm Thank You Ash, Sorry, I though that it had been around for awhile . I appreciate your reply. It seems pretty good to me, but what would I know? Here is a link if anyone would like to see: http://www.harveynormanflooring.com.au/ ... q-150.html Apparently the manufacturer's has incorporated Maize (as in the plant) into the fibre. It is also not hessian backed as our carpet is here in Oz, because it's from the U.S.A, it is plastic type hessian backed, so there if liquid soaks through it dosn't transfer to the underlay. It has a Lifetime stain resistant warranty, 15 year abrasive wear warranty, 20 year anti static warranty, and 20 year manufacturing defects warranty. edit - (sorry hit submit before I finished ) They put it in the Black Rhino's den ( a real one ) and left it for 2 weeks. After that they cleaned it and all the stains came out. I had a look at it today, and it seems quite good (the new carpet not the bit that was on the Rhino's Den). I just thought you might give me your expert opinion, and pass on anything that you had heard about it. Maybe I will be the Guniea Pig and I can report back to you! Thanks Ash. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Question for Ash re the Rhino 5Nov 15, 2009 2:49 pm Well you can play the guinea pig (or rhino) if you are game! What would be interesting is to see what the warranty info says. The quoted warranties sound impressive. But consider this.... Any warranties provided by any manufacturers are subject to the purchaser maintaining the carpets as per instructions. So as well as the manufacturer honouring the stated warranty terms, you also are obligated to look after the carpet correctly..... which is reasonable really! The trouble is, many consumers see these kind of warranties, and assume they can neglect and abuse the carpet, and if it doesn't perform well, they can go running back to the supplier demanding they fix it or whatever! The bottom line is.... no matter what technology they apply when producing carpets, they all require proper care and attention, and all warranties will say so in ther terms and conditions. And most carpets (if looked after correctly) will perform quite well anyway. It could be argued that manufacturers are to blame for playing up to this mentality, with Pro Hart, rhinos, etc. But the reality is, don't expect to buy a carpet, abuse it, and then expect the warranty to save your bacon! Ash. Re: Question for Ash re the Rhino 6Nov 15, 2009 5:49 pm royalblue But the reality is, don't expect to buy a carpet, abuse it, and then expect the warranty to save your bacon! Ash. I promise I will be kind to my new carpet. Have not chosen it yet anyway. I have an issue with the footsteps on the plush pile so I am going to look at a no pile (if you know hwat I mean) carpet, especially with stairs. Thank You Ash. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Question for Ash re the Rhino 7Nov 15, 2009 5:57 pm No probs! I was speaking generally, rather that to you anyway. If you don't like footmarks and pile direction showing different shades, you may prefer loop pile carpets, or hard twist pile. Ash. Re: Question for Ash re the Rhino 8Dec 23, 2009 9:15 am This Rhino product has an amazing colour range to choose from. It is also marketed in America by a company called Mohawk under the SmartStrand label. One thing I noticed about it was that it was a lot softer to touch than other carpet samples. Re: Question for Ash re the Rhino 9Dec 23, 2009 11:41 am Yes skep, I loved it. If it wasn't for the foot tracks I would have chosen it for sure. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Question for Ash re the Rhino 10Jan 02, 2010 11:25 am In late Jan 2010, IQ150 will be available in 20+ additional styles, including loops, level cut loops, plush, twist etc. If you are keen to buy it, but put off by foot marks on cut pile, then wait to see the loop versions. Same fibre. DIfferent style. Same warranties. Wish I had known that before never mind. THat info may be handy for someone else in the market for carpet. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want.
