Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 04, 2009 3:32 pm Just wondering how much I can expect to pay to Tile & Carpet my house. I know it will depend on the quality of the carpet and tiles but what did people pay per sq metre to have their parpet and tiles laid? I've worked out that we will need about 110 sq mtrs of tiles and 80 sq mtrs of carpet. Was looking at *** and they have carpet for around $26.90 per sq metre. They also lay the carpet also but that's not included in the price. Re: Costs to Tile & Carpet a house 2Oct 04, 2009 4:34 pm The price will also depend on the size and shape of the rooms...obviously, you pay by linear metre, and that doesn't always translate directly from square metres, especially if you need numerous joins in larger or odd-shaped rooms. Also check the quality and type of underlay being quoted on. We paid a little over $6000 for our carpet, to cover around 130 square metres. We bought two different carpets though, one for the rumpus and kids' rooms (harder-wearing) and one for the master bedroom/retreat, study and lounge. The first was a discontinued line, so we got it at a discount. We upgraded to the best underlay, and laying was included. We could have gone cheaper, but preferred to deal with a reputable place that we've used twice before. They're not part of a large chain, but a small, independent local supplier. Their prices were only marginally more expensive than the others we checked with, and we knew that we'd have no dramas. Our joins are actually invisible. Hoping to get both tiles and carpet done for 12k max. Hope this is possible. If anyone can rec a carpet layer or tiler in Melbourne's west would be great Re: Costs to Tile & Carpet a house 4Oct 04, 2009 4:51 pm Also depends what you want (wool / nylon), where you are situated and the size of your home - as well as whether you are paying cash / finance etc. We have timber in all living areas and carpet in all bedrooms / hall / study / home theatre. We are paying the layers directly. All up came to $18k. Some things are worth waiting for. Most of the rooms are pretty standard shape Re: Costs to Tile & Carpet a house 6Oct 04, 2009 7:35 pm My tiler is 41m2 including grout and my tiles cost $59m2. Plus the builders profit of about $5000. I went a 20 year warrantly nylon carpet and that was about $60m2 layed. 1 10967 1 15695 they can, it's a fairly standard solution when the slab isn't recessed. the falls need to be in the main floor, if it hasn't been done then you need to ask them to redo… 4 6565 |
