Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: EVOLUTION BY PROLINE FLOORS?? 2Jul 01, 2011 1:33 pm I have had Evolution (NSW Spotted Gum) by Proline Floors laid on our floors for about a year now. We had the boards put down with the plastic edging up stairs but removed the skirting boards down stairs and replaced them after the boards were laid. Looks better but more work. In my opinion the Good Points are: Can be walked on immediately Looks great Easy to look after - just wipe with damp cloth. I use an Enjo mop and it is very easy. 25 year warranty When something is dropped on the boards (I dropped a metal hole punch) I did get a chip out of the gloss covering but it doesn't seem to crack out from the chip - you are just stuck with the chip. If a few boards are damaged they can be taken up and replaced. Bad Points are: Does not work very well for stairs. We have it on our stairs and where the bullnose would be if it was done with real timber, there is a piece of angle metal into which the upright and the flat piece fit at the edge of the tread. This is very uncomfortable on the feet when you are walking down in bare feet. It also looks ugly as the piece is about 2 inches wide. Unfortunately, I don't think they can do bullnose edges for stairs. This is the only thing that really lets these boards down . Have to be strict with floor layers so that all the boards are what you want and you are not given boards from a different pattern; When boards are laid and I am looking at them at a lower angle with the sun on them sometime it looks as though there is a strip about 1/2 inch wide where boards join at the ends. When I look at them closely or straight down this is no apparent. Also with the sun on them sometimes it looks as though part of the gloss has come up near the edge of an occasional board but again upon closer inspection this is not visible and is not able to be felt when touched. Remember that the boards must be laid from the longest run through the house to either side of this. You cannot start anywhere you like. These boards look great and I am very happy with the wear so far. We have four adult children at home and reminding them to be careful is a bit of a bore but I am glad we had them put down. So far they seem to be holding up to the scratches. I got stuff from Bunnings to put under the furniture legs which has been great and stops the scratches. Will be interested to see what it looks like in 25 years!! 2 4669 3 5580 Old Home Restoration / Renovation To reduce noise transfer without compromising the aesthetic of your exposed I beams, consider filling the 100mm gap between the I beams and the floor above with dense,… 6 9122 |
