Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 28, 2009 5:25 pm Have had some 14mm spotted gum boards installed over ply on the slab (which looks bloody great) prior to commencing the kitchen and fix. The flooring contract states a 100grit main sand and then 150grit finishing sand (coating will be a toby solvent based 1 pack poly semi gloss) The raw timber installed has probably a few mm height diffs between some boards but I assume they aren't major and the main sand will sort it out. I have seen and heard of the term "flat sanding" but am not 100% sure what it is or if I need to do it. It isn't a major cost factor so happy to do it if it is something that I should do. I don't want any quad across the back of my kitchen panels so if flat sanding will ensure a perfect base then I'll book it in asap! I totally agree with everything you have written.
