Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 28, 2009 9:51 am We are having a floating flooring installed. Our house is pretty old and used to have carpet. I think the carpet hid the fact that the floor isn't very even and slopes in some rooms. Most of the flooring is in and we have noticed as you walk accross it that there are some slight rises and falls and a couple of the rooms slope from one end to the other. Should the flooring installers done tests for this and made adjustments or is this just the way it goes? Re: Uneven flooring 2Sep 28, 2009 10:02 am Sorry to say, but I think the finished result will look crap from what you are saying. The installers should definitely have been checked before they began with the job. what sort of sub floor is it anyway? If there are sloping rooms, sounds like its floorboards. Anyway, the foundation of any such project must be fixed before the floor is installed. Good luck! Ash. Re: Uneven flooring 3Sep 28, 2009 11:08 am I know how much you like carpets so your opinion may be a little bit bias about the floors looking crap. It still looks awesome, but yeah we have been dissappointed on a few things the installers have done so far and head office for that matter. Nothing to do with what flooring you've chosen. I'm just saying that the foundation of any flooring project must first be in good shape (flat, level, clean, solid etc). The finished result will not be great if its not so. And you didn't say what is beneath. Ash. Re: Uneven flooring 6Oct 08, 2009 4:23 pm Ive got the same problen here. Our house in on stumps and one appears to have moved in someway in the hallway. Its wear we cant really get to on the other side of the garage wall (garage is underneith) so i dont know what to do. My partner seems to think its ok but when the floor is so uneven I dont know what flooring to use. We have just re carpeted the rooms but we started putting laminate flooring down thought we could make it work. However its not working. We cant think of what to use to get the floor even it is extremely noticeable aswell. I hope this help you newhome_24, AS3958.1 is the Ceramic Tile Installation Standard. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6191 |
