Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 24, 2009 3:20 pm I've got my timber floors going in now (spotted gum 14mm overlay boards) and want to try and protect them as much as I can until sanding/polishing while other trades are happening (namely tilers, plumbers etc) I was thinking of putting a few sqm of carpet at the doors and maybe 1m wide strips between rooms to reduce the chances of damage. Theory is that if I have carpet at the doors at least then the majority of rubbish under their boots will be greatly reduced. One idea suggested was getting a roll of rubber underlay (2m x 10m) for about $100 but I don't think that will act as much of a rug. So thought of some cheapo rough carpet and essentially making giant welcome rugs. Cheapest crap at *** is ~$8 sq/m Gotta goto bunnings later so hopefully they have something but any ideas where else to go, or am I being over protective of the floor? Re: Cheap carpet to protect raw timber floor during construction 2Sep 24, 2009 3:23 pm i just left my floors fully exposed. I have drop everything on them from paint to mud etc. Sander came in yesterday and started to sand it away. It dissappeared in one take. I have 19mm board (structial) not to sure if you can get let the 14mm overlay naked. Perhaps other can confirm. Re: Cheap carpet to protect raw timber floor during construction 3Sep 24, 2009 3:28 pm Interesting. I was told the 14mm board has the same "meat" to sand as a 19mm board, the only difference was 19mm was required for over joists. I haven't been told that I need to cover the floor just that I had to ensure no silicon touched the timber and that any water spills were immediately cleaned up. Can you give advice on how to get missing certificates needed for a form 21? Our bank requires us to provide one but we are missing 4 building certificates from our first… 3 71777 1 62015 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7257 |
