Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 22, 2009 8:16 pm We've ordered and paid for Jarrah timber floor for our place due to go in next week. Just got a call from the floor guy giving us warning that the colour is much darker then the sample we picked! He said there is nothing you can do about it, but it just depends on the time of year etc when they cut the wood. Is this right?? They never gave us any warning it could turn out a different colour! Re: Timber Floor wrong colour! 2Sep 22, 2009 8:24 pm Did it say anything about that in your Order paperwork? Maybe in the fine print, something about it be a natural source and variations in colour etc... www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Timber Floor wrong colour! 3Sep 22, 2009 8:57 pm They should have informed you that no two pieces of timber are alike. A sample board is an indication only. The time of year a tree is cut does not effect its tone, rather its more to do with its geographical location (such as proximity to a river) , the amount of rainfall in that location during its lifetime or simply the age of the tree itself. A good example of this is timbers from Qld with its high rainfall and year round warm weather - Qld Spotted gum (which is made up mostly of spotted gum and lemon-scented gum) is exceptionally darker than those same species when going into NSW spotted gum Re: Timber Floor wrong colour! 4Nov 05, 2009 10:01 pm sco77k We've ordered and paid for Jarrah timber floor for our place due to go in next week. Unfortunately wood is natural so no tree is going to look the same regardless whether it is the same species or not. It's similar to brick colours people have had trouble with...the samples and display home bricks are different despite them choosing the same type of brick and you would think the bricks would be the exact colour. It's a shame what you thought you were ordering has turned out different to what you expected. Have you looked at the timber? If it was lighter in colour then you would have the option of staining it etc to get your desired look. welcome to learning that colours vary in different lighting conditions. 1 2908 2 31345 there is only 20% difference in concrete strength between 20 mpa and 25 mpa, so check with your engineer first if it fits his calculation tolerances.
