Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 06, 2009 12:18 am We're looking at some nice Mahogany timber flooring, which at the retailer is about $110 per metre supplied (not laid) So thats $140 laid.
Our builder goes thru same retailer I've heard. So I'm expecting the $140 + 15%.... and we have about 60 metres is around $8000k. Wow... Of course, if you include it in the builder's contract/price, then its included in the mortgage... if we did ourselves we'd have to come up with the cash ourselves. I'm guessing I'm not the only one stuck in this conundrum! Re: Timber costs with builders.... $$$! ? 2Sep 28, 2009 1:29 pm We're having exactly the same conumdrum as you are. We are thinking having the wood floors done with the builder, but their prices are easily 10-15% more than if we went directly to the flooring shop and paid cash. But the thing is, we want to save the cash for doing other stuff around the house after handover. Which had me wondering how the process works if we went ahead with the builder....do they say go to *insert shop name* and pick you floors....then we'll include the costs into the contract? Does this step normally happens during Pre-start or during the pre-contract quotation? 12 March 2010 - Land titles received 3 April 2010 - Signed building contract 14 April 2010 - Prestart 28 April 2010 - Loan approved 30 June 2010 - Slab completed 27 August 2010 - Brickwork completed 22 September 2010 - Roofing completed 30 September 2010 - Internal walls plastered 12 October 2010 - Lock Up 19 November 2010 - PCI 26 November 2010 - Handover 29 December 2010 - Moved In https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32584 Re: Timber costs with builders.... $$$! ? 3Oct 13, 2009 11:50 am I believe along with color selection they organise flooring selection on another date and send you to a shop they have already organised a deal with. Re: Timber costs with builders.... $$$! ? 4Oct 14, 2009 8:31 am Wow $30 sq/m to get your timber laid... I paid $116!! That included the ply, gloss, sanding/finishing etc though.. Im with Commonwealth bank and I am able to give them invoices relating to my build and they will pay the contractor/supplier and add it to my mortgage - even if they are not through my builder - that way I dont have to come up with the cash upfront and dont have to worry about the builder charging their 20% Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15907 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13098 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering.
