just a thought !!
Make sure check the Janka rating on that type of wood. I'm pretty sure that Tassie oak is on the soft side. But mind you my inlaws have it on there floor and they haven't had any concerns. The only thing is that they have only had it installed for 6 months. I'm not sure when you start noticing the effects of the softer timber.
Blackbutt is nice and has a reasonable Janka rating. Jarrah is excellent but you will be paying top dollar for it.
It does not finish with Janka as this index measures resistance to penetration (i.e. when you drop a hummer on the floor) but does not explain overall durability and longevity. Moreover, if a relatively dense timber such as Blackbutt has high water intake capabilities (measured by tangential shrinkage and UTM) it will swell/shrink more rapidly with side effects of cupping - bumping. Jarrah is a lively timber but its Janka a bit less than Blackbutt's as well as it behaves better when moisture changes.... Still better than Kempas
