They may have rulings in place. I know of one that won't allow floorboards. As far as I know, body corporates do not have say as to what you put INSIDE your apartment. Whether it be tiles, carpet or timber floor boards, they cannot force you to choose what they want. However, judging by the by-laws for my block, all they say is that we must do everything we possibly can to keep noise to a minimum so as to not disturb the peaceful enjoyment of others. With tiles, I know that there are some things such as adhesives and underlay that can reduce the transfer of noise. Furthermore, you can always lay down floor rugs in some areas. Main thing is that if me or my partner were stomping around or walking in heels, then yes someone may get upset. But considering its just me and my partner in the apartment, noise should not be a problem. We dont have kids so again I dont see it being a problem. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15905 1 15753 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6191 |
