Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Aug 10, 2009 8:20 am Hi, Just in the process of costing our new home, and just wondering if anyone can help with some flooring suggestions. Hubby loves timber floorboards, but not sure we will be able to afford them. Just wondering how timber laminate floors (are these "floating floors"?) compare in price? Or are there other suggestions? We've had tiles in our old house and found them very cold for the kids, so would like the look of timber floors. Thanks! Re: Timber flooring vs. timber laminate 2Aug 10, 2009 11:50 am Floating floors range from as little as $20 per sq. metre up to $150 per sq. metre. There is a massive difference between different types so you will need to do your research if choosing that type of product. We have 200 sq m to fill with flooring and have decided on a laminate as they have these in display homes which receive heaps of traffic. They last longer while the timber marks easily. We always take our shoes off at the door, too. We have been priced at $12k for the laminate and $16k for the timber which is a 2 strip so mid range but there is such a variance of price. We had laminate in our last house when we were on one income and couldn't afford much and it showed how cheap it was. This is why we want to spend more to have it look good Hope this helps you http://www.harribeka.blogspot.com Re: Timber flooring vs. timber laminate 8Dec 04, 2009 10:10 pm IMO you cant compare, timber all the way We are getting strandwoven bamboo, almost the hardest and best wearing timber out there. for mine you have 4 choices on floors, timber boards, tiles, carpet or polished concrete, other than that I just cant come at plastic Blog: http://funmore-residence.blogspot.com/ Forum: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=21109 Construction Start - 19/09/09 Slab Poured - 21/10/09 Frame Completed - 25/11/09 Lockup - 22/12/09 Fixing - 22/02/10 Handover & Moved In 30/04/2010 Just about completed a renovation project and hit a small issue that we didn’t see We have laminate floors now where we had tiles before (turned out it was actually 2… 0 4919 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15887 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair At a bit of a loss on this one - we're thinking the original owners never removed the protective laminate covers from their kitchen cabinets after installation and in the… 0 6328 |
