Isn't the tiling already in the contract? Were the prices "provisional" or something?
Tiling was included as part of the standard house. But it was only for standard ceramic tiling - we changed our tile after we signed contract - but it was only 'picked up' last week that the tile wasn't a standard ceramic, so not provisional.
Anyway, after a couple of long and at times grumpy conversations (with the builder) and a lot of advice from tilers, H1'rs and tile suppliers, DP got a call to say they've now re-contacted their tiler and we wont have to pay extra. Talk about the week from hell from our builder! But I'm pretty happy its all sorted finally. (Even though they have the urge to say to DP, whats up with me at the moment because I was getting agitated during the week!!)
So I'm now an expert on tiles, haha, turns out the glazed porcelains are a porcelain biscuit, but basically exactly the same top layer on them as ceramics have. We have a cushion edging, not rectified, so don't need levelling or smaller grout lines or cleaning of wax because thats only to strengthen polished porcelains for transporting really.
Ah..... so now I can breathe a sigh of relief, but really didn't need the last week! Thanks everyone for your support and advice I love this place!!
