Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jul 19, 2009 7:51 pm Just wondering if you are familiar with the brand / quality of this carpet: Manufacturer: Cavalier Bremworth Collection - Kohinoor Quality : Fine hardtwist cut pile (I think it is 85oz) Color No : 35 Colour Name : Chamois Pile Fibre : 100% Wool The quote we got was 350/lmt with Prime (Red) underlay. Extra for removing and taking away old carpet plus moving furnitures around. Tanya Re: Is this carpet quote OK? 2Jul 19, 2009 9:25 pm Tanya,
That is a superb quality carpet! On Bridgestone Prime underlay... you are buying fine quality. Be very discerning in making sure the installation is done by the best layers available. Read other threads here about power-stretching and installation. Price?.... I'd say that's about right. After all, when buying quality, price is secondary anyway! If you have your quote based upon a proper floorplan showing all seams and laying specs, look up other Cav/Brm retailers and get quotes from them to compare. The only thing I might suggest though is this.... Yes this carpet is excellent quality BUT It is very thick. 85oz is a seriously heavy weight carpet. I'd consider buying from the Cav/Brem range in carpets that are the same except not as thick. Instead of 17mm thick, consider some that are say about 12mm thick. It can save you $$$ and it will not give any less service than the one you are looking at. Cheers! Ash. Re: Is this carpet quote OK? 3Jul 19, 2009 9:35 pm Me again! Look at this one http://www.cavbrem.com.au/tools/search- ... x?code=745 Similar but not as thick pile. Will give just as good service, but cost much less. I have two rooms at my home with Angus tweed in them ( http://www.cavbrem.com.au/tools/search- ... x?code=258 ) Its 10.2mm thick. After 12 years of use, it looks great still, with only slight tracking in the walk ways. It practically will last another 20 years. Going to an 85oz carpet does not give you better performance, and can have some downsides besides the extra $$$. Ash. Re: Is this carpet quote OK? 6Jul 19, 2009 9:54 pm royalblue gettingThere How much does your quote work out to per sqm? That'd be about $95.63 per sq/m Ash. WOW! I've recently been thinking of going with carpet (decent quality) in bedrooms thinking it would be a lot cheaper than timber flooring. Having read your post now I've realised that carpet is just as expensive as timber flooring (we plan on laying it ourselves). Re: Is this carpet quote OK? 7Jul 19, 2009 10:00 pm I'm paying just on $61 sq m ($183 linear metre) laid for a Kimberley carpet (Kimberley are an off-shoot of Cavalier Bremworth). It's 100% wool twist on best quality underlay, laid with a power stretcher. Judie Re: Is this carpet quote OK? 8Jul 19, 2009 10:59 pm [quote="gettingThere] WOW! The carpet described is top shelf, and Cavalier Bremworth are a fine carpet brand. Its reasonable for the price to be as it is. However, there are exceptions to the rule. As I have suggested here, a less thick carpet of otherwise similar specs will be better value for money in most cases. Quality carpets are generally very good value for money in many respects. Often though, the problem is, most people tend to pay far too little for lesser quality carpets, cheaper underlays etc. The "get what you pay for" rule rings true in these cases! Ash. Re: Is this carpet quote OK? 10Jul 22, 2009 11:36 pm tanyad Thank you Ash for the reply. I think now I have to convince DH to change his mind as he really fell in love with that carpet!!!! Tanya, you don't have to do that at all! I'm just giving you info to take and do as you will with. Ultimately though, it is YOUR choice, and if you all like the carpet, don't let what I had to say change your mind. A Cavalier Bremworth carpet is a magnificent carpet, and if you like the one you mentioned, and can afford it, go for it! Ash hey there! π so, itβs kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 21029 I was being kind to the builder. With the amount charged for the upgrade the builder is probably charging closer to 100% margin. There are a few variables as I… 5 14406 I had 28m2 of engineered pavers laid six months back and it was difficult to find someone not taking the pi$$. Internet suggested it should be $85-100/m2 to lay them.… 3 12551 |
