Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jul 14, 2009 8:54 pm Getting floor boards installed in my new house next week. Have had "hard wax oil " recommended to me. Environmentally friendly, easy to repair scratches yourself, low odor etc. Has anybody had any experience with this product. Cheers. Re: Hard Wax Oil on timber floors 2Jul 28, 2009 1:29 pm I'm not sure if this is the same product, but we've used tung oil in the past and it was good for all the reasons you say - not too whiffy, and easy to refresh areas that have been a bit scratched. Re: Hard Wax Oil on timber floors 3Jul 28, 2009 7:16 pm Tung oil and wax are two different things. Tung oil is reasonably smelly on the nose. Like the tung oil, the wax won't provide much protection to the timber itself and will need much more frequent recoating compared compared with poly finishs Re: Hard Wax Oil on timber floors 4Jul 28, 2009 7:56 pm ....Yeh??? Wax doesn't scratch like poly, is easy to refresh, doesn't have high VOCs. Doesn't look all scratched up like poly does. Is made locally in Perth... http://www.gillystephenson.com/ All honed floors and most benchtops we have done in the last few years, has a wax finish no problems so far Wish it was my business they supply many 1000's sq mtrs of our clients polished/honed concrete. It is not cheap, but still cheaper than resealing timber or concrete with poly. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1931 Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10971 5 10475 |
