Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jul 11, 2009 7:13 am We have an open area for the kitchen-lounge-dining in the plans for our new house that measures about 8m x 8m. This area will be really well-lit during the day by natural light. We're considering Karndean wood-look planks for the flooring throughout the house. Can anyone give me any advice on how the Karndean would look in such a large bright space? While I am happy with its look, I've only seen it in comparatively small areas at the showroom where the lighting was dim and moody. I know that a good photographer can make anything look good for a brochure, LOL! I'm a little concerned that over the larger space the less realistic features might really stand out to the point of being overwhelming. I've done a search in this forum and everyone who's chosen it seems to be pretty happy. How does it look during the day in areas with lots of windows and doors letting light in? Kylie Re: Karndean "wood" planks and open plan 2Jul 17, 2009 10:40 pm Hi kb, I haven't seen the Karndean laid in its entirety in a home, but I have just decided to go with a company for Winter Oak flooring where they have large sections of the Oak Royale laid in sunny and well lit areas. The Oak Royale looked lovely in the light although I must admit, the texturing that runs through the floor did look just a touch fake, particularly in the winter oak. Though, I think it is such a lovely and practical flooring that it doesn't bother me too much, esp as I am getting it for $85 laid!!!! (Thought I had a good deal with Harvey Norman at $79 per metre for materials.... wrong!!!) Compant told me that it is cheaper to sell if the company already has it in stock, so worth calling around!!! Best of luck and if you get it done soon, post pics!!!
