After our sad water spill due to ahem ... SS forgetfulness ... insurance are forking out to fix our warped floorboards.
Six months after moving in to our new house we are moving out again so they can replace the buckled ones, inject glue into others that sound hollow, and re-sand and polish around 100 m2.
We purchased extra wood way back when the house was just a glint in our imagination ... thankfully this will be used to match the existing boards.
The company who are doing the job will bring some new spotted gum along in case we run out, but everyone is hoping there is enough to finish the job.
A hint for those considering solid wood flooring: if you have a WC that leads directly out to your wood flooring don't count on the floor trap capturing any overflow. Fix your toilet if it is blocking and don't let the buggers get wet. Our assessor told us that it is a common problem with new houses .... the floor trap really can't hold much water at all.
A happy ending for us in that our floors will be as good as new and we don't have to move the furniture out ... would have preferred it didn't happen in the first place but you can't have everything .
