It's joyful and triumphant Re: Anyone us Karndean Flooring or other Vinyl Tile Flooring..? 3Jun 23, 2009 10:31 pm Hi Modsy We have 95sqm of karndean vinyl planks, from the vangogh range fitted to our ground level of our double storey home. We love it, we had it professionally installed, the slab had to be prepared, a self level liquid was applied, before the planks were fitted. Its been 12 months and its still looks fantastic. All our visitors love it, some dont even realize its not real timber planks. The planks need to be sealed and a polish applied, easy via a mop. Also protect the floor by fitting protective pads on your couches and dining chairs. PorterDavis liked our floor so much they now use it in there display homes. Check out our blog: http://wallace-cremorne41.blogspot.com All the best Re: Anyone us Karndean Flooring or other Vinyl Tile Flooring..? 4Jun 24, 2009 3:01 am Hi awallace Those floors look fantastic - if I may ask which one of the Van Gogh range would that be? Karndean is my front runner for flooring when we build. Just have to convince hubby. Photos like those will make that easier! Id love to know what plank you used. Re: Anyone us Karndean Flooring or other Vinyl Tile Flooring..? 6Jun 24, 2009 8:16 am Hey guys, glad you liked our karndean vinyl flooring... Its become so popular, that you now see it in most shopping centers, various coles & safeway, in particular around the fruit & veg areas. So if its used here you know its hard wearing, easy on the feet and much warmer than tiles.... Real timber floors are very expensive, and will still show high heel marks over time, (unless you choose black butt--the hardest of the timbers) ,much more maintenance compared to vinyl planks. And even if you manage to ruin a plank, you can just remove it and replace with another plank. We used the "Lancewood" (Model: VGW44T: 48inch x 7inch wide planks....... Word of advice if you do consider karndean for a large area, the wide planks look so much better than the narrow planks. All the Van gogh planks are the wider ones. I suggest you check out there website, and if you are in melb visit their showroom. http://www.karndean.com.au/site/products.cfm?range_ID=2 Any further queries please contact me. Thanks Andy Re: Anyone us Karndean Flooring or other Vinyl Tile Flooring..? 7Jun 24, 2009 8:22 am By the way, there are 15 planks to each box. FRom those there are 3 different shades, a darker plank, a light plank and a medium coloured plank. When its laid they are just randomly fitted to the floor which gives it that natural timber look. Seriously do consider the karndean flooring, there are alternatives to tiles and real timber. There are even some high grade laminate flooring which isnt bad as well. My advice research it , check out the nearest karndean showroom, and visit display homes that have it installed. If you're in melb, check out the porterdavis lifestyle & access display homes in "Brimbank gardens estate in derrimut (17kms west from the city). There are a few homes there with the karndean flooring. The double storey has the cheaper narrow plank, still looks fine but its not from the vangogh range. Hope this helps you guys. Andy Re: Anyone us Karndean Flooring or other Vinyl Tile Flooring..? 8Jun 25, 2009 4:08 pm Oh it is lovely to see how nicely the Lancewood has come up. We have chosen it for our renovation/extension about to commence. Was it a choice to have it sealed? How much extra was that? How often will it need to be done? It looks fantatic, as does your entire home. Andrea Re: Anyone us Karndean Flooring or other Vinyl Tile Flooring..? 9Jun 25, 2009 6:08 pm Hi Andrea Thanks for your nice comments. Sealing is extra, but you can do it yourself to save money. Its approx $1200 to seal a large area (95 sqm), that was last year. We also went thru my wife's friends commercial floor company. We sealed the floors ourselves. Its easy to do, just obtain the sealer & polish from your karndean supplier. I aim to reseal once a year, to ensure the floor is looking its best. Andy Re: Anyone us Karndean Flooring or other Vinyl Tile Flooring..? 10Jun 25, 2009 6:39 pm We used Karndean flooring in a previous house and it was fantastic. We replaced carpet and used the wide timber type boards. Easy to clean and look great. I recently went through a similar renovation and move scenario when updating our family home.
