Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jun 11, 2009 3:51 pm I am about to put down the Allure Vinyl planks in my hallway and entrance. None of the doorways off the hall have a trim on them at the moment as they are not carpeted yet. What sort of trim should I be purchasing, with view to carpeting the bedrooms later, to put down. The one that has the gap in the middle bit to put that plastic capping?? Id hate to lay the vinyl and then later on when I come to do the carpet, the carpet laying not being able to do something with the trim I have put down. Re: Types of Trim - help 2Jun 11, 2009 4:18 pm Chicky, Before laying the vinyl planks, ensure that all surfaces are plane and true (flat). Where the vinyl terminates at doorways, simply finish the vinyl in about the middle of the door's position. The edge stuck down will be fine. Then when the carpet is laid, the layer should show you your options of door trims. He should supply and fit the trims as part of the carpet installation, and can easily trim the vinyl if need be. Keep in mind when selecting your carpets, that the vinyl is usually <3mm thick, so its best to not have very thick carpets. The transition from a thin vinyl to a thick carpet can be less then ideal. Ash. 7 3005 Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting. I've bought a house 2 and a bit years ago and last year we had some major water damage on a converted pergola area… 0 7930 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12509 |
