Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jun 06, 2009 9:28 pm We went and picked our tiles and carpet choice today, I originally wanted a matt tile but I couldn’t find anything that grabbed me. We found a polished tile that was a perfect color match to what I was after. We’re looking at using this tile throughout the whole house, except the porch and patio, the media room will be carpeted. These tiles will be used in the bathrooms as well.
My mum has been building houses for years and I know she would warn me against a polished tile but are they really that much higher maintenance? All tiles are wet when slippery, I’ve even got to be careful when I’ve mopped my matt tiles. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Re: Polished Tiles query 2Jun 06, 2009 10:38 pm I'm biased, because I love porcelain tiles. That's why we used it throughout the ground floor (except for HT and study) and all wet areas. I'm not a fan of plain-coloured ones though (for the floor). That's really hard to maintain, IMO. Because when you mop it, water streaks would be visible... unless you mop it dry (which, i don't have the time anymore, due to the size of the area that I clean).
