So if anyone knows for sure what they are, please let us know! Re: timber flooring on masterchef ?? 6Jun 02, 2009 10:05 pm LOL -- great minds think alike! DH and I have noticed them too because so much of our time atm is taken up thinking about house-related things. I am 99% sure it is solid timber (19mm) and about as sure it's spotted gum. Re: timber flooring on masterchef ?? 7Jun 03, 2009 9:44 am As the proud owner of a solid spotted gum timber floor, I can say that I'm 99% sure that that is what is on masterchef. The first time I saw it was like drooling at my own floor. What I love about spotted gum, is the lovely richness of the contrasting colours! Also, the long dinning table they use for tasting the meals on, is the same one we have Re: timber flooring on masterchef ?? 9Jun 03, 2009 12:29 pm Gee we were talking about that table last night Prey tell where did you get it and if I may be so bold but how much was it. Can I know which company did you go for? Thanks. Re: timber flooring on masterchef ?? 11Jun 03, 2009 5:03 pm d@n How do you know it's not a floating floor? The warehouse is a big area to cover. The boards themselves appear to be a variety of lengths, some long and some shorter, this is what we have, which makes me believe that it is a solid timber floor (ie 19mm hardwood boards ) And it looks so similar to our floor. raeking Hi Clarity, Is my understanding correct, you have a solid timber and not an engineered timber? Can I know which company did you go for? Thanks. The company we brought our timber from are based in Sydney and the timber was supplied from a timber mill in NSW. If you are Sydney based, I'm happy to pass on their details. Re: timber flooring on masterchef ?? 13Jun 03, 2009 10:04 pm Totally agree with you Clarity There is simply too much variety in the lengths of timber for it to be a floating floor, imho. I would think a large area lends itself to 19mm and given the style of the architecture, the quality of the restoration and the nature of the space, I think it's a wonderful choice. Clarity, would you mind PM'ing me the name of the company you used please. Pix Built a (highly) modified Allcastle Maxworth 38.7 in Sydney. Re: timber flooring on masterchef ?? 15Jun 10, 2009 10:42 pm Yep I commented tonight that I thought they might be Spotted Gum. We are having Spotted Gum being laid in 3 weeks. So happy with the choice - also my stair treads will be spotted gum to tie in. Re: timber flooring on masterchef ?? 16Jun 11, 2009 10:38 pm supasquirrel also my stair treads will be spotted gum to tie in. Where are you getting the spotted gum treads from? Or who is doing it? Is it going over a hardwood staircase or MDF? Re: timber flooring on masterchef ?? 17Jun 12, 2009 6:42 pm supasquirrel Yep I commented tonight that I thought they might be Spotted Gum. Supasquirrel is there any chance you can PM or post the details of your suppliers and installers? I have so far only had quotes by PTF and Connollys but always helps to have a few more Has anyone taken the initiative and actually called Channel 10 and confirmed what it is? Originally was all hardwood (Tas Oak) which is quite standard I think, but we upgraded to the spotted gum treads with MDF risers (to be painted). I just assume the treads will be just SG, don't imagine it will be going over any substrate. Yes I emailed Mastercheif through their website, got an reply(eventually) with the products ect. they use on mastercheif, but was no mention of floor on there. Eamiled them back...but still waiting. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15907 1000000% definitely add insulation.
