Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jun 02, 2009 1:42 pm Hi We just finished installing our floors by an installer, and I am not happy with the level of the floors. We had them done the floor preparation before installation. When I inspected the floors, I felt some lumps and some obvious ones in some areas. I contacted the supplier/installer and I was told that there is an Australian Standard that if any lumps are below 1 cm in height they don't have to do anything about it, is that true? But some of the obvious ones are at least 1 cm. Please help. Re: Vinyl Planks floor is not levelled 2Jun 03, 2009 11:38 pm A response from Ash: 1 cm height variation is definitely NOT ACCEPTIBLE. Get the supplier to show you the Standard they are referring to. Bet you'll find its more like 1 mm variation. It is imperitive that subfloors are flat before vinyl is laid. Re: Vinyl Planks floor is not levelled 3Jun 04, 2009 6:35 pm Oh no! I hope you get this sorted asap. We are looking at vinyl planks too. Definately wouldn't be happy with lumps of 1cm Living the dream. 4 horsey acres in the country. What's the next project??? I would contact them again and demand someone come and inspect the installation. If they dont come to the party advise them you will be getting an independent arbitrator to inspect the floors. Hope this helps Thanks this helps a lot, I have the supplier and installer to come out this weekend and we are going to walk through the house and point out the areas I think is not acceptable. I have not paid them the rest of the money yet, I refuse to pay until the job is done right. Re: Vinyl Planks floor is not levelled 7Jun 05, 2009 3:04 pm I have vinyl planks on my steps as well, my house is a double storey. I am having issues with the nosing, initially we chose an aluminium nosing, a few days later I was told that their supplier don't supply them anymore. So we selected another aluminium nosing and they came back and told me it's not suitable for the vinyls. They tried to offer me a cheap rubber like something you would put in a warehouse...I suspect they are trying to rip me off. We have paid a deposit and have agreed on the type of nosing we wanted in the first place. Re: Vinyl Planks floor is not levelled 8Jun 09, 2009 2:29 am unfortunately metal nosings wont work to well with planks. I know the plastic nosings they are offering you, and i agree they are very commercial looking. Im surprised they are going to install them on stairs. I am very interested to see the finish they get where the tread of the step meets the riser. There are some timber nosings available, but they can become quite pricey.
