Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jun 01, 2009 12:03 pm Hi we're having 130mm Red Ironbark laid in our Kitchen, living and lounge areas. We are getting mixed feedback on whether to have a Synteco finish or Tung Oil finish on the floor. I understand that the oil finish will require twice annual re-application, but I can live with that if it is a better finish as far as 3 main criteria: 1. Scratch resistant 2. reduce shrinkage (?) 3. Stain resistant Looking forward to your advice and experiences. Frank fyi - We're building a customised Hawthorn Manor with Roselea Homes. Just starting to peg out for the slab after demolition of the old house. Happy to share experience with both Roselea Homes and Ryde Council if anyone needs it.... Re: Roselea homes 2Jul 09, 2009 12:03 am Hi Francesco, I'm new too in this forum. I like Roselea homes on display at Homequest Bella Vista, The Sapphire. Thinking to built it too. Can I ask why did you choose Roselea homes? Will you recommend them to me? How's their service? Prices? Upgrade prices? Their quality? Thanks a lot. francesco Hi we're having 130mm Red Ironbark laid in our Kitchen, living and lounge areas. Easy to apply with a string mop. After drying, the shine to the boards was as if they were new! Only pain was moving the furniture. Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Timber floor - Tung Oil or Synteco? 5Jul 09, 2009 11:11 am only applied the tung oil when the floor was starting to look dull from traffic. sometimes we got lazy - no detriment to the floor though if not oiled regularly- just starts to look a little dull. the areas with little traffic didn't require it very often. so to answer your question : how often to oil depends very much on the amount of traffic in that area Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Roselea Homes? 6Aug 14, 2009 4:30 pm Hi Francesco We are just starting out on this site and were very interested when we saw your comment ..... fyi - We're building a customised Hawthorn Manor with Roselea Homes. Many thanks SeanandKellie Re: Timber floor - Tung Oil or Synteco? 7Dec 18, 2009 3:55 am BUMP My architect listed Roselea as one of his recommended architects, although personally I haven't met them yet. Care to share the experience? I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 2235 Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 11582 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 16054 |
