Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 27, 2009 8:12 pm We got a quote to have some bamboo floorboards laid- the installer said that as the house is new the concrete slab will have too much moisture to lay the flooring directly, as moisture will rise up and damage the boards. They propose to lay a subfloor of MDF directly onto the concrete, and then lay the bamboo over this- I would have thought that the moisture would just keep rising up through the MDF? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Googling only got me links to people using a concrete sealer over the slab... is this the correct way to do it or will the flooring company's method be ok? The quote is a good price, but I don't want to end up with damaged floors... Thanks! Hey There. No problems re jumping in. My original question was "should I have waterproofed" the concrete slab before putting batons down. We have been told we should… 7 5321 yep, clearly mark where the infloor heating pipes are before drilling or nailing 1 6639 I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 2969 |
