Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 18, 2009 3:45 pm Hi Follks, New here and have a zillion questions. I was watching taht channel 9 show last night and they were using a new products called Quartz Carpet. I think I quite liked the look of it so am keen to find out more. I ahve done a Google search but only seem to be returning searchs from big business that just seem to do commercial projects. So does anyone know anything about this product, have you used it, who do you use, any idea of cost. I am located in Sydney if anyone can reccomend a company to do it that would be great. Cheers Mel Re: Quartz Carpet 2May 18, 2009 4:06 pm Here you go: http://www.seamlesssurfaces.com.au/products.html I found the supplier info on the "homemade" part of ninemsn. Judie Re: Quartz Carpet 4May 19, 2009 9:12 am Hi! I'm in QLD, so not much help with actually suppliers to you.. But I called a local company and they said there are 2 finish options. One is 'filled' so it's completely smooth, you can mop etc. And the other is open, like a pebbly kind of texture that you would use outside for pool areas etc. I was quoted approx $150m2 . A little more than I was expecting.. so think the Quartz carpet will go on the backburner . Love Kristi Living the dream. 4 horsey acres in the country. What's the next project??? Re: Quartz Carpet 5May 20, 2009 12:18 am Thanks! I have contacted a few places I have found and yet to hear back from anyone yet. I too beleive you can get it smooth or textured. $150sqm wow it is quite pricey, not quite what I was hoping it would be. Cheers Mel Re: Quartz Carpet 6Jun 01, 2009 2:35 pm These people at www.terracefloors.com.au (based out of Adelaide though) are saying $130 - $180 per sqr mtr; the people form Seamless Surfaces say $150 - $200. This is after preparation; ie, if you want to put over timber floors, U wd have to lay some fibro-like sheeting first, and a rubber film of some sort - not included in the price per sqr mtr. Regards, Craig M. Re: Quartz Carpet 7Jun 15, 2009 8:08 pm I have been trying to find out more about this too. Apparently Quartz Carpet is a trade mark for one particular brand of stone carpet which only has one distributor in Australia (based in Sydney). It is supposed to be easy to clean as you can seal it like a slate floor. This article was helpful http://interiordecorating.suite101.com/ ... p_flooring I am trying to find something in Canberra - preferably something I can DIY. Re: Quartz Carpet 8Sep 17, 2009 10:34 am Hi All, I have just come accross this forum on the net therefore new to it. Just wanted to correct/confirm some facts on Quartz Carpet (QC). I work for Alternative Surfaces (www.alternativesurfaces.com.au) who are a Melbourne(VIC) based company. We are the sole distributors of QC in Australia. We have Applicators Australia wide. QC is not a DIY surface, it must be applied by trained professionals. QC was the surface that was applied on the TV show Homemade. QC is available in 3 different stone sizes 0.8-1.2mm, 1-2mm and 2-3mm. The stones are mixed with a binder and hand-trowelled on an existing substrate of concrete, tiles or timber. It is designed to be seamless but breaks are often required when going over timber or constructions/expansion joints. The 0.8-1.2mm sized stones are then pore-filled with a clear epoxy filler. This filler fills the cavities between the stones and makes it a smooth hygienic surface. The 0.8-1.2mm sized stones cannot be left open-pore. The 1-2mm and 2-3mm sized stones can be left open-pore (obviously 1-2mm cavities will be tigher therefore maintenance more difficult that 2-3mm). It also depends on the area being applied ie if a wet area obviously a pore-fill is required. A matt sealer is also available if preferred. Open-pore finish is vacuumed and steam-cleaned just like carpet. It actually looks like carpet but has the durability of stone. 2-3mm open-pore is the only finish for external uses. QC is also popular for vertical applications or joinery. Prices differ from State to State. QC is a durable sophisticated seamless surface that is lovely to walk on and easy to maintain. I hope I've helped some of you. Please visit our website or contact me: michaella@alternativesurfaces.com.au if you have further queries. Regards, Michaella Re: Quartz Carpet 9Sep 20, 2009 5:30 pm Hi, I am new to the forum and new to renovating as well ... boy is it time consuming!!! I am really keen on getting the Quartz Carpet or similar installed in my reno, but am being told that there is a minimum size area that Alternative Services will do. Does anyone know of a company that will do a smaller residential job in Melbourne. Cheers Kimella Re: Quartz Carpet 10Sep 21, 2009 11:05 am Hi Kimella, Alternative Surfaces does do smaller projects. We have a minimum of 45m2, which means that if the project is smaller, the square meter rate increases a bit. We are the sole distributors and applicators Australia wide so you cannot get it elsewhere. Please contact myself or anyone at the office to receive an email address for you to send your plans for quoting. Or visit our showroom - see website: www.alternativesurfaces.com.au Kind Regards, Michaella 1 10973 1 15703 they can, it's a fairly standard solution when the slab isn't recessed. the falls need to be in the main floor, if it hasn't been done then you need to ask them to redo… 4 6565 |
