Re: FLOORING 61May 30, 2009 11:49 pm cmt, absolutely agree you have to like it 100%. One of the salesmen I spoke with offered the Van Gogh Antique Karri at a very cheap price of $65 sqm because he said they had tons of it since they did all of the Brisbane "Wow Sight and Sound" stores with it. Perhaps they also use it at the WOW stores in your area and you could have a look at it there on larger scale. I also agree with you that a glossy finish would look better on a smooth surface. Kristi, I don't think Kenbrock insisted on sealing/polishing (that was one salesman's advice), I think it is purely optional for them. So if you like those maybe call or email Kenbrock and ask whether it must be polished or if it can just be left with the polyurethane coating. Regards, Craig. Re: FLOORING 62May 31, 2009 1:31 pm Yay! Hubby agrees, and we both like the Kenbrock Harmony flooring the best. We've chosen 'River gum'. Our house is a while away yet, but it's nice that we can now match colours with our flooring . Re: FLOORING 63Jun 02, 2009 6:44 am Hi there - I just found this thread and am hoping some of you made a decision on your flooring! Anyone got photos of their new floors? I am renovating my home and have been trying to decide on the flooring for months (yes really). My new kitchen has been installed but sadly I just cannot decide on the flooring. Originally was going to use Karndean (Oak Royale) but then got side tracked into thinking maybe a timber floor. Then started worrying about scratching, water etc and went back to the idea of vinyl. But still I can't decide! I love the look of real timber but the karndean looks pretty realistic and frankly easier to maintain. The cost is actually quite a bit more for the karndean and I keep wondering if I will always wish I had got 'real' timber. Also of course there is the added question of should I get a different vinyl (every salesman tells a different story about karndean). When I found this thread I realised that there are many others out there just like me - unable to decide and dithering between the range of options. Has anyone out there actually chosen and installed their floors? I would really appreciate an update of your decisions. Many thanks, Ang Re: FLOORING 64Jun 02, 2009 9:27 pm gersy1964 Hi there - I just found this thread and am hoping some of you made a decision on your flooring! Anyone got photos of their new floors? Many thanks, Ang No haven't actually choosen one yet, as a matter of fact you sound just like me, going back and forth between them all...I really would like solid timber, but unrealistic in an established home. I think the problem is that I like the look of real timber, but can't find anything to look like that in vinyl. I hope I can decide soon it's really doing my head in ...to the point where I'm dreaming about floors! Now that's a bit sad don't you think!! Re: FLOORING 65Jun 03, 2009 7:57 am Yes, dreaming about floors is kinda sad but even worse is when you have been thinking about it for almost 6 months and STILL CAN'T DECIDE! I always thought that building a new home was really hard and endless decisions but now I find that renovating an existing home is even worse! I would love to hear from others who actually have made their decisions and even better photos of the results. Meanwhile I'll keep thinking on it ...... Re: FLOORING 67Jun 03, 2009 6:17 pm That looks gorgeous! Sorry, no specific suggestions here. You will probably have to get a lighter and a darker shade of plank and lay them randomly to get that natural variation. Good luck! Love Kristi Living the dream. 4 horsey acres in the country. What's the next project??? Re: FLOORING 68Jun 10, 2009 11:56 am I hear you guys,we are having the same problem, which type to go for! We are building a new home and i love the wood look but we are on a budget so i dont want to go to expensive. But i dont want a cheap and nasty look either. What a headache!! Re: FLOORING 69Jun 10, 2009 8:03 pm My Flooring Problem is about to be solved - while I was away for a few days, my husband decided that 'enough was enough' and ordered our floor! He ordered the floor that we had mostly recently decided we liked and obviously knew that I was NEVER going to be able to make the final decision! It is a timber floor, can't remember the name but I will find out and try to work out how to post a picture. It is wide planks, in a sort of reddish brown. I should be upset at husband for just going ahead but actually this is probably a very wise move on his part. Now the next thing is picking a floor tile for our ensuite and laundry area. This area will be renovated before the wooden floor is laid, so I will need to pick floor tiles that will co-ordinate well with the timber. At least the wall tiles won't be a problem because I am just going with white and absolutely no feature tiles at all (I just want it simple and will jazz it up with accessories). Fingers crossed ............ Re: FLOORING 70Jun 14, 2009 10:49 am Well I am still on this rollarcoast, where I can't decide! I can't seem to find a vinyl product that I like the look and feel of. While looking I did find something that I did like, but it's a laminate floating floor, so now I'm wondering, do I just go with this one I like regardless of it being a laminate. I am concerned that it will not be as hardwearing and in a few years it will be damaged in some way and that it will not wear as well as vinyl, but if I can't find a vinyl I like, then there's no point. So please if anyone can help me out here, it would be great, as my head is ready to explode. This is the product I saw, can anyone tell me what the difference between the two is, they look very much the same to me. If anyone had any experiences or reviews on one of these floors please let me know what they are. Here are the links: http://www.armstrong-aust.com.au/resflrpac/en-au/laminate-forestselect.html http://www.harveynormanflooring.com.au/ ... sions.html Thank you all, I'm sure you are all sick of me by now!! Re: FLOORING 71Jun 14, 2009 10:09 pm Hi cmt, What do you think of this one? I saw it on a store showroom floor and liked it very much but unfortunately the colour didn't suit my house. http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/9194/house007.jpg I wouldn't mind getting your opinion (and other people's) for the one I am considering atm (see pics below). Still haven't got to handover yet 'about 2 weeks later' so still have time to change my mind lol. Here is a pic taken in the store of the vinyl and carpet along with my colours. http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/6629/house015.jpg Here are pics of same vinyl and carpet in my house. Looks very different in the house due to natural light and the reflected paint colour hey? http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/4740/house002.jpg http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/7770/house006.jpg http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/7016/house011.jpg http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/2302/house005.jpg http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/7295/house012.jpg Unfortunately my camera doesn't do a great job of colour especially indoors. For example the paint colour in some of the photos looks yellowish but it actually has no yellow at all - more of a pinkish grey. I'm a little worried that it is too dark but salesman says (and my family agree) it will look lighter on the larger scale fully installed. Cheers, Craig Re: FLOORING 72Jun 25, 2009 11:01 pm Hi All, I have been watching this board with much interest as I am building a house at the moment and have my heart set on vinyl plank, namely, the Karndean Art Select Winter Oak. Problem is, Canberra stores are quoting $99per sq/m BEFORE being laid and floor prepared...... Harvey Norman have them on sale ATM for $79sq/m and $137sq/m laid. I noticed someone else had a quote for $115 laid on this range and was wondering where you got your quote and if people have had better quotes elsewehere (don't want to get ripped off!!!!) Also wondering if anyone knows what Harvey Norman are like for laying this kind of flooring? Thanks heaps to all!!! V. Re: FLOORING 73Jun 27, 2009 11:53 pm Hi nessbrown, $79 sqm is a fantastic price for Art Select range but the additional $58 to get to $137 sqm laid is ridiculous (did that include slab prep?). Makes me think the product price is to get people in the door then they make it up on the laid rate? Have you considered just buying the vinyl then finding your own layer? Might be riskier doing that though cos if it comes out bad then you just have the supplier blaming layer and vice versa. Can't believe I am still waiting for handover, it's been a month now since I put deposit on my flooring (after SS suggested handover within a week). Still intend to post pics of the vinyl eventually in case it helps anyone to decide on their choices. Rgds, Craig. Re: FLOORING 74Sep 09, 2009 1:32 pm hi, i have just installed rhino flooring in my house and think it is great. it is softer underfoot than tiles or hard wood floors and alot easier to keep clean with 2 little children running around. the only problem im having with it is when i need to mop it. i find i need to stay off it completely untill it dries or it leaves foot prints all over the place. a friend of mine uses a steam mop on hers and i was just wondering if using steam was a good idea or if there was a better way to do it... any help would be great. thanks Re: FLOORING 75Sep 09, 2009 5:29 pm We have just installed Karndean Vinyl PLank in the Van Gough range. We are really happy with the look at feel of it. We are yet to live with it, still staying with mum and dad until painting is complete. You can see photos on page three here. It took us a while to decide as well but I am so pleased we don't have tiles. Floating floor was never an option for us, I just don't really like it. Andrea Re: FLOORING 77Sep 10, 2009 1:56 pm Hi there, Not sure on the width, but they are in the Van Gough range that are all the same width. I can check next time I am at home, or I am sure their website has the info. The colour we have is Lancewood, we love it. I love the variance in colour. Andrea Re: FLOORING 78Mar 22, 2010 10:12 pm Anyone have Quickstep Largo installed? We're considering it in our house and need 200m2+ and want it through the kitchen. How does it perform? Not many images of it anywhere and haven't read any feedback from anyone who has installed it so hoping for someone to give me some advice. ______________________________ http://homewithcoco.blogspot.com/ Re: FLOORING 79Feb 18, 2015 3:31 pm Bumping this thread back up!!
