Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 15, 2009 12:25 pm Hi, My hubby and I are building a new house and are looking at tiling the main areas. Getting the tile and paying for a tiler thru the building company is a rip off so we are sourcing it ourselves. Anyone with good experiences with Tiling outlets, I'd love to find somewhere, where I can save a bit of money (looking for around 85sqm)?????? Going rates for tilers in WA or any recommendations????? Your info is appreciated. They have a list of recommended tilers, too. They are certainly not cheap tiles, but we found exactly what we wanted, and I thought the prices were reasonable. Lida was the name of the lady that helped me, and I thught she was very good. Re: Tiling in WA 3Apr 30, 2009 9:08 pm I'm currently looking at tiles to buy also Waaay to expensive to get the builder to tile the house for me. So i'm glad i'm friends with a tiler! He's going to lay them for me instead. There's just so much out there. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Tiling in WA 4May 22, 2009 6:57 pm We paid $10k for the builder to tile our main areas (sitting, hallways, activity, kitchen, dining, living) probably equating to about 100m2 I don't know if that would be considered a rip off or not, but considering our rural location we figured it was more convenient than trying to find a good tiler and then paying for them to come all the way here. I imagine we would have potentially saved a couple of grand organizing it ourselves? We are getting carpets ourselves purely because the carpet companies do come out here. The allowance of $5k that the builder originally quoted on our contract is pretty close to what it will cost us anyway, I'm sure we're saving a few hundred by doing it afterward. Re: Tiling in WA 5Jul 13, 2009 3:22 pm There is a tiling shop in Osborne Park called Abbey Ceramics. My builder uses it for the wet areas, and I am going to get my tiling for the rest of the house from them. There is just the best sales guy called Ivo. I went three months ago to choose my tiles for the wet areas, and then went last Saturday and he greeted me by name! I was amazed. Could only have spent about an hour there ... it is a gift to remember names like that!!! Anyway, prices good ... help great, and good prices. Re: Tiling in WA 6Jul 13, 2009 3:24 pm Oh .. forgot to say that he has recommended a tiler, who will charge about $30/m to lay the tiles. I phoned him for a quote, and he was on holiday in Italy (is back now) ... lucky I didn't phone him in the middle of the night with the time difference .... he might have doubled his costs just for irritation factor!!! Re: Tiling in WA 7Jul 13, 2009 3:36 pm There was an ad on TV the other night for a place in Osborne Park. It was called Magic Tiles or something like that. Apparently they had tiles up to 60% off I dont know if theyre any good, but could be worth a look?
