Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 03, 2009 10:51 am Hi All, I will be getting timber flooring and received a quote which included Synteko Classic as the finish. I was wondering if anyone has this on their floors and if it is durable? I really do not want to have to re-real/finish the boards every 12 months.. Originally I was thinking of using polyurethane.. However the timber company specifically tells you not to use it.. What have others used to finish their floors for LOW maitenance, highly scratch resistant? The synteko website says that it is all this and more but wanted some real world feedback if possible Re: Timber Floor Finishes Synteko 2Apr 06, 2009 8:24 pm Had a quick look at the product MSDS, its an oil based finish not too dissimilar to an oil-based polyurethane. Timber companies often warn people in regards to oil-based polyurethanes as there can be problems with edge bonding where several boards become 'glued' together resulting in large gaps between others during drier times of the year. This is one reason why water-besed polyurethanes are much more popular these days. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15909 The most likely cause of your timber swelling (parquetry?) is either a plumbing leak or carelessly leaving water on floors after use or both. Without seeing, i am ignoring… 1 3278 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7284 |
