Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 02, 2009 9:38 pm I just got a quote for the standard builders range for tiling of our main living areas downstairs and it's come in at around $100 per sqm for a $24 ceramic tile. So essentially they are charging about $75 per sqm metre for labour and materials. Now this seems a little extreme (and yes I'm aware that a builder will charge you more) but does that sound pretty normal? If you got/are getting your builder to lay your living area tiles what did they charge? Thanks Re: Builders tiling rate 2Apr 02, 2009 9:57 pm Our tiler is charging $45 per square meter for labour + glue etc. Re: Builders tiling rate 3Apr 02, 2009 10:32 pm $30 to $40 per sqm seems to be the competitive rate our there for install of tiles. We would really be getting ripped off if we went with the builder... I think we'll be doing it after handover... Re: Builders tiling rate 5Apr 03, 2009 1:20 pm We are definately doing after handover. Even if it means not being able to move in for an extra two weeks. For a particular sum of money with the builders you end up with 300x300 sometimes 400x400 tiles whereas for the same money after handover you end up affording 500 or even 600x600 nicer quality tiles. Its a shame but it seems to be the way it is.
