Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 22, 2009 10:38 pm our new house colour scheme has been designed to suite the pale straws with pinkish highlights of engineered Tassie Oak boards such as Borrow Sillwood , Ready4 or the Ecowood at Heavy Norman , until we have seen a colour muted board from one of the flooring shop where the Tassie oak board has its pale straw colours darkening to tans and yellowish ( possibly due to sunlight exposure). does anyone currently has engineered Tassie oak at home ? and how is the colour chagne affect the looks of your floorboard ( if any)? what i want is for the Tassie oak floorbards to stay the same colour ( or minimal colour mute) over time, is this possible ? also, is there any specific brand you have used is of good qulity in terms of maintaining the same colour from day 1? how about the UV-Resistant Acrylic Coating the floorboard makers are using? does this mean only the coating itself is non yellowing but it does not stop the wood from yellowing? Re: Engineered Tassie Oak floorboard, colour change 2Mar 23, 2009 6:44 pm All timber changes colour, darkening with age - theres little you can do about that. Keep in mind Tassie Oak is a mix of three species which may change colour at different rates in different ways. Joe Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. If you haven't sorted this already you need to caulk this gap. Not sure where you are but if you are in Sydney I can… 5 4362 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15924 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6164 |
