Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 07, 2009 7:35 pm We are looking at getting a carpet from Solomons - are they ok to use?
It's the Suzie Wilks collection, Vogue City, colour is Melbourne. It's 100% solution dyed nylon. They want to charge us $260/lm which includes the top underlay and installation. It would be used for bedrooms & theatre room. Does this seem like a good carpet & price? I really like the colour but have struggled to find it anywhere else. Does anyone know that if we wanted it at another store if they could match it, even though it says 'exclusive to Solomons'. Thanks everyone. (this carpet selecting is daunting - so many choices!!!) Re: Is this an ok carpet & price? 2Mar 08, 2009 11:41 am I am looking at using a Suzi Wilkes carpet too- Vogue Panache- it's $250 per lineal metre at Balcatta Solomon's in WA. The range is exclusive to Solomon's, but each Solomon's is a franchise, so you might get a discount if you shop around.
There certainly are similar products at other stores, but I found none to be as soft underfoot as the Suzi Wilkes one, and they weren't much cheaper either... Re: Is this an ok carpet & price? 3Mar 08, 2009 2:53 pm One hint is to ask the retailer for a small off cut of the carpet you are looking at and keep it, to compare with what is acctually laid.
It doesn't take much to wind down the hight of the pile, or strech out the stitch rate by making a few adjustments on the tufting machine. When your carpet is laid you can then compare the two to ensure that you have what you ordered. Any good retailer will do that for you. cheers Col Nation For information on caring for wool and other carpet and upholstery go to www.woolsafe.com.au Carpet 4Mar 14, 2009 2:06 pm The Suzie Wilks range is made by Victoria Carpets. It is available under other names at most leading retailers. Actually in the solomans store here most of their carpet was this price In the end I decided to shop somewhere else and got a different one which came in at $149. This too was solution dyed nylon and rated extra heavy duty. I saved $2,000 and bought a Plasma instead.
