Kardeans strip flooring is one of the top sellers in NZ, I personally prefer this product to polished floors, It is very close looking to timber but the maintance is so much easier, the product is very hard wearing ,easy to maintain and is a lot quiter than timber floors. the only fault I have come across is slight fading from the sun, but in saying that timber floors will fade as well And one more bonus with this product is that if a plank gets damaged for any reason you can easily replace the plank hope this helps cheers matt Re: Any one had experience/advice on using vinyl plank? 3Mar 09, 2007 8:16 am Thanks for your reply. I really do like the looks of it.
Just wondering if you know if there is any maintenace to be done on it, such as sealing it ???? not necessarily at the begining... Re: Any one had experience/advice on using vinyl plank? 4Mar 09, 2007 6:29 pm Myself personally strip and seal on completion of laying,
kardean supply both of these, This way you remove any excess glue and marks , and have a good finish on your floor, If you purchase these your self , you are then able to maintain ,ie strip and seal when they start looking a bit tired, for general maintainace a general floor cleaner willl do, just dont use an abrasive cleaner and use as little water a possible , the more water the more likely your planks will lift of the floor cheers matt Re: Any one had experience/advice on using vinyl plank? 6Mar 10, 2007 4:43 pm Sorry...One more question Matt...at the risk of sounding completely dumb...
is strip and seal an actual product or a process???? are you talking about clean up after they're laid or are you litrally talking about stripping ie sanding it down and re sealing it? Re: Any one had experience/advice on using vinyl plank? 7Mar 11, 2007 5:16 am both products are applied like a general cleaner,
the stripper is to help remove marks and any suface glue that may have been left behind during the laying process, ( I always have a damp cloth to wipe over the floor as i lay) The sealer is similar to a polish but will slightly soak into the surface of the tiles/planks both products have user instructions on the bottles so you can work out how much to use hope this helps cheers matt Re: Any one had experience/advice on using vinyl plank? 8Mar 11, 2007 5:43 am Hi Matt,
Thank you very much for that!!! Again! That does help a great deal. At the moment the vinyl planks are ahead of the running for us, both for the look and the price. Having said that they are not cheap and are more expensive than the laminate flooring or some floating floors, which i didn't want to get. My main concern for this is any possible lifting or bubbling, although i suppose that due to the nature of the product its easy enough to fix???? We have decided to have it installed for us by the mob we will be bying it from, since there will be approx 217m2 to do so hopefully most DIY errors will be eliminated That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
