Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jan 14, 2009 10:57 pm Hi,
After having lived in homes with lino (twice), murray pine floorboards, and (freezing cold) ceramic tiles, we are pretty keen on going with a vinyl tile for our new home. So l was just wondering if anyone has Ceramica vinyl floor tiles in their home and how has it stood in regards to: - coldness/warmth underfoot? - maintenance and cleaning - condition of "grout" and any other thoughts about them, pro and con. I tried googling for a website for further info and pics but all l found was this ......see page 8 http://www.floorworld.com.au/documents/ ... online.pdf Re: Ceramica Vinyl Floor Tiles 2Jan 14, 2009 11:19 pm Pros for Vinyl / Lino that I can think of :
Can be less slippery than tiles and floorboards Pets seem to prefer it (mine do) Feels a little "cushioned", more so than tiles and boards Greater chance of things bouncing rather than breaking. Never chips or cracks or scratches and small marks are repairable Cheaper - to the point where you could re-do it every couple of years Can replace sections fairly easily if required Hardly any maintenance Pretty much all cleaners are suitable Accoustics are good - no clomping or clicking with heels. Cons : It doesn't look as lush Wears faster - it gets that sheen happening Its a plastic and glue rather than the natural element of tile and wood Edging can lift Heels can mark There will be can edge marks near the pantry from where you drop them (or is that just me ?) This will sound fluffy - but it doesn't contribute to the room. Wood adds warmth, tiles add coolness You will never hear the words "oooh love your vinyl" Building Upside down house in Wantirna VIC Current Stage: Procrastination... it's just all too hard.... I just looked at the ones you like and they are almost twice the price of carpet.
Really lovely though - I'd like to seem them down somewhere first but I'd consider them too. Building Upside down house in Wantirna VIC Current Stage: Procrastination... it's just all too hard.... Things like, do they still look like new, after 6 months, 1 year, 2 years? etc....how does the "grout" look over the same amount of time. Are they really noticibly warmer than traditional tiles? How are they holding up in the wet areas? Stuff like that..... Re: Ceramica Vinyl Floor Tiles 6Jan 15, 2009 9:17 pm seakyl I have seen these tiles in the flesh..VERY NICE!! Yeah they are very nice indeed....l had never heard of them before and when we were in Floorworld looking out our flooring options, initially we were wanting timber flooring (but man that's expensive!), the sales guy asked if we had considered vinyl tiles...I asked no, where are they? and he said, "your standing on them!" lol.....l couldn't believe it, l honestly thought they were normal ceramic tiles, lol... I really am loving the rubber grout.....it appears that it will be so so easy to clean and no mould or permanent stains or discolourings like traditional grout....or perhaps not? hence why l'm asking about it Re: Ceramica Vinyl Floor Tiles 7Jan 15, 2009 11:02 pm Oops!! I've just discovered the Flooring & Floor Covering Forum! Sorry, l should've put this thread in there instead.
Mods, would it be possible to move this thread? Having scoured the several pages of the Floor forum, l can't find a Vinyl tile thread, so l may get some more responses if this in there and also it may help others who are researching these tiles being able to find it more easily.
