Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Nov 27, 2008 3:40 pm HI
We are in the process of building our first home (yay!) and have decided to go with floating floors. We think laminate may be the better option as we have dogs (who are more like our children!) and it may be tougher against scrathces etc. Can anyone recommend a good brand &/or supplier (we are in west of Melb.)? Any idea of prices? We will be getting floor layed after handover. Any tips/help would be great! Thank you, Re: Recommend laminate floating floor ? 3Nov 27, 2008 4:00 pm *** sell Armstrong Floating Floor - $20 sqm. Quite a few colour varieties to choose from comes with "free" underlay. You can see it here We have been in for just over 12 months and it looks as good as new, we have a Golden Retriever and 2 young boys so it gets a good workout It is also a single plank. It was at the upper end of the price scale though. Re: Recommend laminate floating floor ? 6Nov 28, 2008 7:05 am I'm probably going with the Formica Laminate Flooring - it's the only one that has a nice grey floorboard (Quick Step does but I don't like the "fake"grooves). I haven't heard much about it though but it's about $70sqm installed - I don't know if that's top /mid/bottom end of the market though. Re: Recommend laminate floating floor ? 9Nov 30, 2008 1:04 am hey there,
Just a quick recommendation from what I know about floating flooring as being selling them for bunnings. Determine the flow of traffic in the area you are laying the flooring low traffic 6-7mm medium to high traffic 8mm all floating floor is "made in germany" in what I mean by this is that the MDF casting of the floating floor is made in germany by one of three companies the best being used by eurohome sold at bunnings the way that the individual companies sell this is through their own laminate pattern on the surface and the armored surface. So ensure that you have a good quality MDF board with tight particles as well as a thick armored surface can be seen as a thick clear coat on the surface of the floating floor. If this is all good then you have a good floating floor. Recommendations roberts 3 in 1 underlay allows for easy circulation of moisture through the beads and has an easy to use sticky side for attaching to the next underlay. Eurohome for the floating floor more expensive - click system. thick armored surface good quality MDF boards. all the best with the job Thanks, that's the motivation I needed to give it a try sooner rather than one day! 4 2983 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors.
