Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Feb 02, 2023 9:51 am We are renovating an old house built around the 80s. We engaged a company to renovate. The company put in new floor boards. But the skirting has gaps with the wall and the flooring. The company said that this is becuase the floor and wall are uneven. But I'm puzzled becuase I used a leveler to check the floor and the wall, they are both leveled. The old skirting also has no gaps before it was removed. Just wondering what's the expected standards? Is this poor workmanship or uneven floor and wall? And when I told the company about the gaps they patched gap filler on it. It looks ugly. I don't like it. But is that what people supposed to do? Were these the original skirts? were they originally painted or not? If new it’s not acceptable Thanks for replying and helping. They are supposed to put back the original skirting that has no gap originally. But they mixed up the skirtings and ended up cutting the old skirting (dark brown) in some rooms. Then new skirting (lighter colour ones) for other rooms. But both new and old skirting has gaps. Is it normal to use those red brown gap filler? Re: Skirting standards 6Feb 03, 2023 9:29 am Pulse still a very poor job, reusing materials is hard as they break and get damaged during removal. They need to fix it and you need professional advice and a report to force them Thanks for responding. That's very helpful as I'm new to renovating and don't know what is reasonable and not. I believe this is correct. From the picture you can see the power was put in last so the electrician knew where the water was.
