Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 22, 2008 8:50 pm I am getting tiles laid in the kitchen, dining, lounge hallway, laundry.
Here are some photos of my skirting on a concrete slab floor. The skirting is the same throughout. I have been told it is better to take the skirting off then have tiles laid to the wall and then put the skirting over the tiles. Questions: 1. How does that look over the grout lines that run towards the wall. Wouldnt there be little holes where the skirting doesnt go down into the grout lines? If so, silicone?? 2. How do I remove the skirting and put back? 2. The skirting as you can see is not fantastic looking anyway. Is it expensive to get new skirting? How does one attach it to gibrock? 3. The tiler suggested ceramic skirting (of course thats how he gets paid) but does ceramic skirting look good? He reckons use the same tile as the floor cut to go about 130mm up the wall. I looked for some pictures on the net and found this one. It has metal edging. The tiler reckons metal edging is not necessary. Opinions please? Re: Tiling and skirting - advice wanted please 2Oct 22, 2008 9:36 pm Practically tiled skirts are heaps better. When you mop the floor, over time the skirting boards can get discoloured as they are typically a light (white) paint. We are having them in all tiled areas in our build.
Hope that this helps. Re: Tiling and skirting - advice wanted please 3Oct 23, 2008 7:34 am I would leave the skirting board and tile up to it than selicon the edges instead of grout looks great. If you remove the skirting boards you may have to buy new ones and never use adhesives just nails.
Craig Joe Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. If you haven't sorted this already you need to caulk this gap. Not sure where you are but if you are in Sydney I can… 5 4335 4 6010 7 2996 |
