Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jun 14, 2021 7:37 pm Hey y'all We are wanting polished concrete in our new home however as I've just been reading we have been quoted double $$ to get it done through our builder They only offer the full exposure look and we are really looking for something more basic like concrete slab with a not so shiny seal (I know not so technical, maybe grind n seal) If we were to get it done after handover what do we need to do? Slab needs to be upgraded ? Keeping in mind we don't want too much aggregate showing I also understand it's not ideal doing it after handover but maybe it's our only option. Not keen on polished concrete tiles First 2 pics what we want 3rd what we don't want Any advice appreciated by Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Polished concrete in a new build 3Jun 14, 2021 7:45 pm arcadelt Katy_sodapop Any advice appreciated… You might be asking for the wrong thing, as the first two photos look like burnishing rather than polishing. Correct, I've been looking at that finish too I guess I'm looking for options rather than the one I'm being offered and if it's a possibility Re: Polished concrete in a new build 4Jun 17, 2021 10:50 pm I’m looking into my options too. From what I can gather so far, burnishing is generally cheaper but as it isn’t hardened with a diamond sander, it’s really delicate It also needs to be done whilst wet. The builder I’m looking at says it’s too risky from their perspective. Polishing can be done through the build without any hassles I’m told. I’ve been quoted around 15k for my 4 bed build. I still haven’t found anyone ho can give other options so I’m keen to see if anyone has any suggestions. Re: Polished concrete in a new build 5Jul 03, 2021 4:55 pm Hiya, I've been looking into this as well. So far I've received quotes for X-bond polished stone and Quartz Carpet. Have you learnt anything more about how it works with a new build since researching? Can they be applied to a slab after handover? I had new concrete laid, extended the alfresco and had the sidewalks concreted too. I noticed the concreter didn't put the expansion foam anywhere, there are expansion… 0 8117 yep, clearly mark where the infloor heating pipes are before drilling or nailing 1 6057 |
