Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 12, 2008 1:38 pm Hi there. . .
We're doing a house reno/extension & currently have really ugly pine floorboards. We're going to carpet the bedrooms but due to our ever expanding budget are thinking of puting some sort of laminate flooring in the living, dining & kitchen area. From what I understand its scratch-proof which is appealing with a young family. . . but I don't want it to look like lino! Can someone tell us more about laminate floors? Are some products better than others? We still want a decent 'wooden look' without the pricetag. Thanks in advance- Re: laminate floor 2Oct 13, 2008 3:54 am I'm not a fan of the laminate floorboards so i cant help you much with that but have you looked into the different stains and finishes that can be done to the existing pine floor? I would much rather stain and polish the original floor instead of putting something fake over the top of it but that's just my opinion. Thanks in advance- HI, We looked for laminate flooring as we too have ugly floorboards and we found a nice Karndean flooring but it was quoted at 97.00 per sq meter. so not really that cheap. Have you thought of a floating floor? check out your local flooring place they can help you out. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it. I'd be defiantely sanding and polishing the old pine boards. Any pics?? They could be Kauri pine, cypress pine, radiata pine, baltic pine etc. I have even seen Oregon pine in flooring before.
