Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 08, 2021 8:51 am We have a 9 year old spotted gum floor that we put down and was sealed with 4 coats of waterbased sealer. It has lasted really well (little dogs run all over it) It still had a few years left in it, but are having it sanded back as part of a bigger reno. We had planned to just go with the same water based sealer. But the floor sanders suggested fiddes Hard waxed Oil. It seems to tick all the boxes, but i read hard waxed oil needs annual and ongoing maintaince??? Cant actually find out what the means. In 9 years we have doen nothing with our water based coating except damp mop once a week. Does Hardwaxed oil wear faster or need anything different to a water based solvent? Thanks in advance. I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1931 Hi, as per the subject.
