I've done a few black floors and they do look fantastic with the right decor. However they are not for everyone and they are hard to keep clean. There are a couple of ways to make a timber floor black (notwithstanding buying floating floors that are already black). Staining the timber with an ebony stain and then sealing the stain is probably the most common. Even that can take some work to get right as there many shades of black. I have painted a floor with a watered down water based paint and then sealed that. That is relatively easy because the paint covers everything There is a method called proof tinting, where the sealer is actually tinted black. Ive done that once and it took several coats to get right as the tinting is not as dark a direct application.
