Hi. We have designed a house to be solar passive and as such, having concrete floors is a part of this.
We got some quotes that came in quite reasonable but now our builder has advised that they will no longer allow it to be done out of contract and we have to go through them.
The price they are indicating is over double what we can get it done for. Which I do understand the slab needs to be strengthened for polished concrete, but it’s not a large house and I don’t think it would be that much extra.
Anyway, we were looking at burnished concrete but the options we have been given is full polish, grind and seal and honed and seal. All with the different levels of exposure.
I thought honed concrete was only an outdoors thing? This will be our cheapest option so any experts out there able to tell us what this involves and what it will look like?
