Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: Skirting boards when flooring after handover 5Oct 14, 2020 11:10 pm sneeloy AnjC We had a situation just recently with doing flooring after handover. The builder asked us for the height of the flooring and set the skirting at that height. Unfortunately we changed our mind after it was installed (totally our fault) so now we have 'shadowline skirting' (skirting higher than the floorboards). I think it's quite an interesting feature - I was going to put strip lighting under there but haven't gotten around to it yet! I'm sure though, that if we hadn't changed our mind it would be totally ok. It didn't seem a problem for the builder. Are you advising to get the skirting installed by builder? Or take them uninstalled and install later after flooring? I'm suggesting if you know what flooring you would like; and how proud of the floor it sits; and the builder will agree to install the skirting at that height, then do it. If not, then do it after handover. Building Standards; Getting It Right! Is this acceptable in a new house build. Floors where installed by builder. Already chips in board and skirting is not flush 0 191 I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1938 |
