We're soon to start building a house and majority of the flooring will be sort sort of wood or bamboo..
We have around 80sqm to fill (hallways, family room, kitchen, living etc) and we are looking at installing it ourselves.
The biggest room is around 9x5meters (including the kitchen) I prefer low sheen (as we live in a house now with high sheen engineered boral merbau and it has lost its shine quickly even though the place is only 4yrs old)
We are looking for quantity, quality at the right price - anything above $50 avg per square meter is pushing our budget.
My partner really wants hardwood, solid not engineered and he loves the look of NSW spotted gum (me too) but we seem to get mixed prices of between $45 -$70 per square (even against the same grade) supply only.
We also consider combining spotted gum and blackbutt together to lower the cost a bit (seen a few examples on eBay and looks awesome)
I like the look of hardwood floors, but I also love bamboo - the ones with low sheen only. (Can look a bit weird shiny) and some prices I've seen are around the same as the spotted gum. My partner is not as keen as me on bamboo.
I'm not against vinyl wood look but I'm finding it hard to convince my partner on it - since its so much more cheaper. Wondering if anyone has any nice pics to share to convince him

Because we'll be installing it ourselves along with some friends it must be (I guess!) easy to install as well - and hopefully not take such a long time!
Any suggestions or advise on experience would be great. We are in need of some inspiration!
Thanks Guys
