Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 15, 2020 1:27 pm Team, need some advice, just moved into a house where the precious owners have ripped the carpet and repalxes it with vinyl/floor board. I see a gap between the skirting and floorboard. Concerned about he dust and water accumulation. Any advise on what I can do to seal it ? You could do either. Both methods would require significant re-finishing of both the wall and the skirting board, although probably less for new. There is also a chance that you would break some of the old skirting boards as you try to remove them; however, even if you did break some, you could consolidate the old skirting into less important rooms, and save new skirting for more important ones.
