Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 102Jan 13, 2015 5:51 pm This is what I put up on my facebook page. "You need a level 3 powerhead that vibrates. We were very lucky to have the area manager of Godfrys call in so he bought back the vacuum he thought would do the job....its just a dream on the carpet! Look at the carpet when it was done.....beautiful!" The vac is a Hoover. Thats one of our girls vacuuming, and thats a super soft carpet in the Redbook Green range, normally we struggle to vacuum this carpet. Yesterday I spoke to a girl who has a Dyson she has had no problems at all, as her Dyson has 2 level settings on the head. I have a sisal hall runner which has latex backing. I want to use it on top of the vinyl tiles but have read that a chemical sometimes added to the latex to keep it flexible can react with vinyl and permanently discolour it. I phoned the rug distributor and they could not confirm whether or not the runner was vinyl safe. Told me to put a rug pad under it. Problem is I don't know what type of rug pad because many contain rubber, pvc etc, to prevent slipping and the Polyflor manual says to avoid rubber and pvc backed mats. I do have some sheet vinyl from our old house which is flexible enough to cut and put underneath. Don't know if that would be OK. Basically I just want to put a barrier between the latex and vinyl tile. I don't think slipping will be an issue because the vinyl tiles are non slip and the runner is quite heavy. With Vinyl Planks and Tiles being so popular I thought the manufacturers might have sent out some info to stores about suitable materials for under rugs. Thanks for any advice you may be able to give. Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 104Jan 14, 2015 5:56 pm snufl, you can buy a product call Rug Fix, it has no rubber in at all, we sell it in our store. Ring around and see if you can find some its good stuff. Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 108Jan 17, 2015 10:04 pm Hi Michelle, we're thinking of putting laminate floors into our house currently under construction. We've had quotes for Parador and Quick Step. Have also come across Classen, another German laminate, and it appears to be quite big in Europe, similar to Pergo but very little feedback from here. Its quite popular in Singapore too. Question is: have you come across this yourself or have any knowledge of anyone here in Australia who's got the brand? The price is better than the others but I'm wary because of the lack of local user feedback. You know we have Quickstep...from Switzerland. What you need to find out is the structure of the boards. Check this flooring forum....they are pretty on the ball in there and from all over the world. Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 110Jan 20, 2015 8:48 pm Hi Michelle, Thinking of going with Quick step bamboo throughout house except bathrooms. Sounds and looks like a great alternative to wood and not really partial to laminates, tiles or vinyl. Any thoughts on the product in regard to wear and long term looks? If you look after it you will have it for a long time. I am looking at getting engineered timber floating floor in blackbutt and was told there is. They also said New England Blackbutt was the same as blackbutt but have since found out that it is not. Thanks Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 116Jan 24, 2015 7:25 pm Hey Michelle, we signed up for some Court Haven carpet and Karndean Van Gogh Frosted Birch vinyl planks. What's your thoughts on the carpet? It seems nice and thick and reasonably soft. Re: I work at Carpet Court - do you have a flooring question 117Jan 26, 2015 1:36 am Hi Michelle, What brands of timber laminate do you recommend? How do we differentiate between the quality of the different timber laminates? They all seem to be standard 8mm planks. Thanks! I am looking at getting engineered timber floating floor in blackbutt and was told there is. They also said New England Blackbutt was the same as blackbutt but have since found out that it is not. Thanks Click Tongue and groove As you can see there is a difference in the making of the boards. Which is the main reason for the price difference. One may have a slightly thicker top than the other as well. Also, I'm not aware of the New England Black Butt, sorry.
