Hi people
I'm about to start organising quotes for carpets locked in to 2012 present for financing. I am overseas at the moment which makes selecting them hard. There are carpet stores here so I can get a rough idea, but selecting the actual carpet will be difficult.
The new building in Perth will be part investment, part PPOR (will be living in for some time). Some questions:
(1) Which material? I want to avoid cheap polypropylene I'm leaning toward a nylon or SDN. I think wool, while nice, will be overcaptilising. How is the texture of wool blends? Any recommendations? IQ500 or Smartstrand seem to be popular names here.
(2) The pile is giving me the most dramas. Plush looks like it is going to be too expensive. Loop looks uncomfortable. Thinking of going twist or cut pile. Are these comfortable to touch at a reasonable price?
(3) What is a good length for the pile? I have seen some ranging from 7mm to 20mm. Does this affect the feel? What about cleaning?
(4) Density...I have read on here not to bother spending $$ on higher densities. Anything above 40oz seems ok. Some input appreciated.
(5) Underlay...foam or rubber? It seems rubber offers a more solid feel when walking on the carpet. Is it best to upgrade the underlay, as people have posted here?
(6) What is a good price for an average carpet per lineal meter? And what figures should I be looking at for total installation, including underlay?
Thanks in advance.
