It's the one room all the mess ends up to be sorted and I'd rather not have to worry about maintenance of the flooring.
Spot on, it is the real utility area of the house so make it as user friendly as possible.

If you have a stone stuck in your shoe you will hear it on a tile floor before you get to the timber floor.
