I had an axminster carpet installed into my boys bedroom about 14 years ago. At the time, I left the layer to supply a good underlay, and he fitted Bridgestone Gold rubber. Over the last few years I've noticed the underlay feeling pretty dead in the walkways. So a couple of days ago, I lifted the carpet, removed the 'gold', fixed up a number of things which the layer should have done better, installed new Prime underlay and reinstalled the axi.
The 'Prime' is now a feature of my avatar.
The carpet itself I bought about 16 years ago, before we built our house. I've powerstetched it nice and tight. Its probably got another 16-20 years life ahead of it and still looks perfectly fine. Just a little less vibrant in colour in the traffic ways compared to areas under the bed which have seen little light.
Ash.
