I know this is an old topic but I just wanted to check with Ash if these recommendations are still good and if perhaps you know of any others in the Northern Suburbs of Brisbane, as these are all in the Eastern suburbs and may not want to travel all the way up here? Thanks Re: Had your carpets cleaned lately? 46May 30, 2010 4:23 pm The Dyson does a super job. Whenever I emptied the thing and re-vacuumed it just kept filing up. Even the new rug captures alot of our dust. Yuck. It's gross. Re: Had your carpets cleaned lately? 47May 30, 2010 5:08 pm Renee, I'd suggest you try the ones I mentioned. I think they will refer you to a good local tech if they don't work your area. Or here is another contact (a Woolsafe Certified Operator) I'm sure would be very good. I need my carpets cleaned shortly as we are at the end of a reno (not that part of the house but I want everything NICE AND CLEAN. I was wondering how effective dyeing the carpet is? My bedroom is only 5yrs old but I think we chose a crappy type as it gets dirty quickly and is a pale green. I would like to have it dyed a darker green or a mocha to try and get more life out of it if possible. What are your thoughts on dyeing? and do you do it? I am in Perth, (near the hills of Kalamunda). Caro Re: Had your carpets cleaned lately? 49Jul 28, 2010 7:00 pm Hi Caro, I don't do dying myself, and although I know many techs around the place, I don't know of a carpet dying service personally that I know to recommend. There are some people in the yellow pages who do it, but I've heard mixed feedback about these services. Here's a few things that may give you some info.... Only wool or nylon carpets can be re-dyed, (but not solution dyed nylons). You can generally dye carpets darker than the existing colour, but the palette of colours available will depend on the existing colour. I think (don't quote me) it costs around $16> per square metre, so the important consideration is whether or not the carpet is of sufficient value to spend that money on it. Unless the carpet is in very good condition with good life expectancy, it often is not a cost effective exercise. Carpets need to thoroughly cleaned before dying (which is normally included in their overall charge). Room will need to be totally emptied, and masked up to do the job. Your problem with rapid soiling of the carpet could be because of all sorts of reasons. If I had more info, I may be able to help you overcome this issue without going to the expense of re-dying.
