Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 22, 2010 4:26 pm Hi, I am looking for some recommendations re purchasing carpet in the Southern sydney area. So far I am getting wildly different quotes for the same product ( have checked it is the same carpet, underlay, installation method ). Hoping someone would like to share their experiences??? I have learnt from reading this forum of the importance of using the right underlay ( Dunlop excellay or Bridgestone Prime ) and ensuring the installation techniques are correct so....where can I get this? I have been quoted on 15.4 linear metres ( doing 4 bedrooms ) of a Redbook Flinders range on Dunlop gold underlay, using kickers for installation, removing old carpet, no furniture moving ( note. I will insist on dunlop excellay when I choose my supplier but just comparing apples with apples for now..... ) Carpet Call - $3500 Paradise Carpets -$2800 ( for another $200 I can upgrade to Bolyu Mystic Aisle range ) Your thoughts??? Re: Southern Sydney carpet recommendations 2Mar 22, 2010 7:11 pm We purchased our carpet from Cronulla Carpets who were eager for our business. I can't recommend them highly enough. Particularly, the installers! No damage & beautiful work!! Another local company who I won't name publicly, didn't bother to contact us after I'd chased them up several times for our quote We thought : stuff them. They obviously don't want our business. I was really impressed and very happy. So happy that I made a special point of telling them so in person. I don't do that very often. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Southern Sydney carpet recommendations 4Mar 24, 2010 4:36 pm Just a quick update - today I visited both Cronulla carpets and Carpet Choice Caringbah and was very happy with both compared to my earlier experiences. Carpet Choice was fantastic in offering colour suggestions and personal recommendations to suit my circumstances, taking the time to run through options. They were also very encouraging to take home some samples to help me make a decision. Cronulla Carpets gave me none of the "spin" I had received from others and gave me a very straightforward and very reasonable costing. So anyone else needing some direction, I could recommend both based on my experience - none of the hard sell I received earlier, just great advice with reasonable pricing.... Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq.
